For those who appreciate the sound of a high-performance engine and the charm of Italian workmanship, the news is bittersweet. Alfa Romeo, a name that has long been identified with automotive enthusiasm and performance, is waving goodbye to its Quadrifoglio vehicles in North America. The statement, which came from Larry Dominique, Head of North American Operations for Alfa Romeo, signals the end of an era for the renowned Quadrifoglio emblem on this side of the Atlantic.
“Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio Performance Models Bid Farewell to North America, For Now,” Dominique remarked on LinkedIn. He advised aficionados to contact their local dealers for the final opportunity to acquire a Giulia Quadrifoglio or Stelvio Quadrifoglio, both having a 505-horsepower bi-turbo V-6. This last call to action is not simply a sales pitch; it’s a historic moment as Alfa Romeo moves to an electric future.

The Quadrifoglio, or ‘four-leaf clover’, has been a symbol of Alfa Romeo’s racing prowess and high-performance automobiles for decades. The Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio models, with their Ferrari-derived 505-horsepower engines, have been the embodiment of this tradition. The Giulia Quadrifoglio, with its scorching 0 to 60 mph time of 3.8 seconds and a peak speed of 191 mph, and the Stelvio Quadrifoglio, with a 0 to 60 mph time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 176 mph, have established milestones in their respective categories.
However, as the automobile industry swings gears towards electrification, Stellantis, the parent company of Alfa Romeo, is not second-guessing its plan. The news of the Quadrifoglio lineup’s discontinuance in North America was repeated throughout Stellantis North America’s social media pages, confirming the company’s dedication to an electric future.
While the Quadrifoglio models will continue to grace the roads of Europe for the time being, their days are numbered in the US and Canada. The final of these models will roll off the Cassino plant’s manufacturing line in June 2024, with orders concluding at the end of April 2024. Dominique’s statement also hinted at the prospect of hybrid Quadrifoglio cars before Alfa Romeo becomes a completely electric brand by 2027.
The Quadrifoglio models have been a bright light for Alfa Romeo, giving a compelling blend of performance, style, and driving enjoyment without the customary ‘buts’ that followed Alfa cars of the past. Their departure will leave a vacuum for aficionados, but it also signifies a new chapter for the brand.
For now, Alfa Romeo will continue to sell the 2.0-litre petrol versions of the Giulia and Stelvio, as well as the Tonale small crossover, in North America. But for those who crave the peak of Alfa Romeo’s performance legacy, the time is ticking. It’s time to act quickly, as the Quadrifoglio models make their farewell bow in North America. As the adage goes, all good things must come to an end, and for the Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio vehicles, that end is right around the corner.
